ASHE Mid-Atlantic 2023 Spring Technical Conference

You are cordially invited to attend the 14th annual technical conference for the Mid-Atlantic Region of the American Society of Highway Engineers. This conference will be held on Monday, March 27th, 2023 from 8:00am to 7:00pm at the University of Virginia Abbot Center Auditorium, 100 Darden Boulevard, Charlottesville, VA, 22903.
A terrific agenda has been developed that includes a number of current and interesting technical highway-related topics.  To assist our members (and others in the engineering community) in fulfilling their professional development requirements, this conference will provide attendees with 7.0 professional development hours (PDH’s).

USDOT and Public-Private Partnership

Dr. Morteza Farajian, Executive Director of the Build America Bureau at USDOT.  Dr. Farajian discussed the Bureau’s efforts to promote innovative project financing solutions that help state and local governments develop and finance Public-Private Partnership transactions for transportation facilities.

Family Cookout - June 25, 2022

ASHE Potomac had rented the pavilion at Kutner Park in Fairfax and provided food and drinks for everyone and families.  The park had a playground for children and space for more activities. Lots of fun!

Our panelists from 7 different municipalities joined Monica Backmon of the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) as the moderator for our annual Jurisdictional Roundtable Discussion. The group touched on several topics pertinent to the issues that we as an industry are facing today, challenges associated with the IIJA Fund.

June 2021 Virtual Meeting:
Implementing Complete Streets


Larry Marcus is an expert in multi-modal transportation design and a national leader in the implementation of Complete Streets practices. Larry works closely with the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) to develop industry guidance and lead multimodal initiatives.

​Golf Tournament


​On May 21, 2021, ASHE Potomac hosted our annual golf tournament at the Bull Run Golf Club. The annual tournament benefits the Stephen M. Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund. Overall, the tournament was a great success and well received by our members! See the slideshow to the right for photos from the event.

March 2021 Virtual Meeting:
